S.E. Shires Q30YA Q Series Professional Tenor Trombone - Axial Flow Valve
A Cinch in Every Situation
Today’s trombone players need an instrument that’s versatile enough to handle any playing situation. And for that, we recommends you try out an S.E. Shires Q30YA professional tenor trombone. A member of Shires’ Q Series, this trombone delivers the boutique quality you expect from S.E. Shires at a justifiable price point. It comes with an 8.5-inch yellow brass bell that sings out expansive tones with superb projection. Players will love the smooth action of the 0.547-bore, standard-weight yellow brass handslide and nickel-silver crook. For an expanded low register, S.E. Shires added an open wrap F attachment with their free-blowing axial-flow valve. Your new Q30YA trombone comes complete with three interchangeable yellow brass leadpipes, so you can customize the instrument’s response to fit your needs. The Q30YA is the perfect gateway to the S.E. Shires family.
QTY bell design helps this trombone sing
S.E. Shires believes that the traditional manufacturing techniques make the best trombones. The company’s expert brass artisans hammer each bell by hand, imparting character and life into every trombone. Case in point, the Q30YA comes with an 8.5-inch QTY bell made from balanced-sounding yellow brass. QTY bells offer a 2-piece design with a separate stem and flare for excellent stability and tonal density. The bell’s QI taper gives this trombone a darker tonal quality that harkens back to the vintage Elkhart-made instruments. Finally, the QTY bell includes a soldered bead for finely-tuned articulation. Every component of this bell works together to provide the player with an expansive sound and top-notch projection.
Axial-flow valve makes resistance disappear
By their very nature, F attachments introduce extra resistance to a trombone. With S.E. Shires’ axial-flow valve, however, resistance all but disappears! The company’s optimized valve design foregoes the sharp bends found in traditional rotors to keep the air moving in a straight line. For the player, an axial-flow valve delivers an open feel similar to a straight tenor trombone. If less wind resistance is at the top of your wish list, choose an S.E. Shires trombone equipped with an axial-flow valve.
